The 2000 F2C Team Racing League Results
2000 was a full season with British pairs competing in a total of 15 competitions that counted towards league points.
Right from the very start of the season two teams stood clear of the rest in the F2C league this year and the results of the first competition defined the top places as they remained.
Ross/Turner continued their current level of performance winning 9 of the 11 events entered and finishing on an overall league score of 61 points.
In second place were Langworth/Campbell on 58 points with only 3 wins to their credit but being placed in 13 competitions.
Equal third but well behind (on less than half the points of the second place pair) were Fry/Whorton and Heaton/Broadhead on 23 points each with Fitzgerald/Thomason just behind on 21 points.
Smith/Brown had a very disappointing season only scoring 14 points (7 of these from the Nationals in August) when the performances towards the end of 1999 had indicated that they would be a real force to be reckoned with.
The most improved team has to be Barker/Tompkins who got their Mazniak gear to turn in a few reasonable times in the latter part of the season breaking 3:40 for the first time at Oakington in September. Lets hope the improvement continues and they become another team to be reckoned with on a regular basis.
The competition season ran successfully due to the excellent support given by Dave Rudd who ran virtually all of the domestic competitions (including the Nationals) and provided prizes for the top three pairs at most events. Our thanks must yet again go to Dave for all the effort he puts in.
