Only 8 teams travelled to the final event of the British Domestic Calendar and many of the top teams were just using the day to try out different equipment as the Team Selection Positions had now been decided.
It turned out to be an excellent day weather wise and a number of teams managed to acheive personal best times and thus gain valuable league points.
Ross/Turner led in the first round with a 3:20.5 and Catlow/Jephcott put in a personal best of 3:36.7 to sit in second place.
An excellent 3:16.4 was put in by the leading pair in the second round and Barker/Tompkins now managed a personal best putting in a 3:44.4. No other team affected the standings in this round.
In the third round Smith/Brown final got it together (having put in much practice) and put in a 3:19.1 with good stops but the motor slightly on the cool side. Ross/Turner shaved another fraction off with a 3:15.8.
The final round was not to have any impact on the positions although Ross/Turner and Smith/Brown managed decent times but following discussion at the end of the round the three teams who currently led the qualification tables all selected not to fly a final but preserve their equipment.
Thus it was Catlow/Jephcott, Barker/Tompkins and Miles/Banks who had the opportunity to gain a bit of "final" experience. Barker/Tompkins had written their model off in the last heat and had to resort to an old Moki powered unit for the final.
All teams were away fairly evenly with all looking as though they had a chance to win but gradually all three had overheating problems and there were many pitstops with compression changes (and also a few dropped catches !). Finaly, it was Barker/Tompkins who triumphed in 8:24.5 followed by Catlow/Jephcott in 8:42.0.
