Dartford F2C Centralised Event - April 26th

This was the second outing for the F2C fliers as the April Three Sisters event had not been run due to lack of attendance. 10 pairs turned up and did their best in extremely blustery conditions and frequent rain squalls.

All races were held as two-ups due to the conditions and will therefore not count towards team qualification unless we have a shortage of three-up times at the end of the season.

This years team members were to record times well clear of everyone else with the team of Fitzgerald/Thomason putting in the fastest time of the day in the first round - 3.22.2. Second best were Ross/Turner with a 3:24.6 in the final round and third were Langworth/Campbell with 3:25.4 in the first round.

Alan Hill and Stuart Metcalfe have not registered many times in recent years so it was a welcome site to see them back and putting in a time of 3:39.2 in the second round was good enough to give them fourth place on the day.

We were also able to welcome a new team (very rare nowadays !) of Banbridge/Saunders who were flying some of Gordon Yeldhams old gear. Any new team in F2C finds it hard going at first and we must encourage them to keep our sport alive !

No final was flown due to a combination of the weather conditions and the fact that four of the teams vanished down the pub midway through the day and did not return until after the final round and the final should have been flown (a bad habit I thought we had got away from in recent times !). The results were therefore taken on "best heat time"

Our thanks must go again to Dave Rudd for all his help with running the event – without his help the days would be far more complicated to organize – and also to Gordon Yeldham for arranging the venue.
